Recommended Impression Technique
for Crown/Bridge, Veneers, Inlay & Onlay

We recommend the use of either addition silicone (Vinyl Polysiloxane) or polyether rubber base impression materials in light, medium or putty consistency for advanced prosthetic work such as crowns & briges, veneers, inlays or onlays. We recommend gingival retraction be carried out before impressions are made by means of a retraction cord or other methods, including electrosurgery. We also recommend that the dental lab use die pins and ditching on the models and ensure that the same is carried out to perfection by our labs - local or outstation.

All of the above can be quite confusing. Therefore, please click here for our 'easy to understand' brochure with details on 'addition silicone rubber base impression technique with gingival retraction' followed in our clinics.

We DO NOT recommend the use of condensation silicone rubber base material or alginates for such work. Click here for 'easy to understand' details on the alginate technique which we DO NOT RECOMMEND for crown &bridge, veneer, inlay or onlay work. This technique is acceptable only for a partial denture work.
